Many preschoolers are fascinated by Dinosaurs – the massive creatures that once roamed the earth.
Dinosaurs were some of the largest creatures on the earth and existed long before humans started to evolve. Some dinosaurs could fly, and some were larger than elephants we have now. They ruled the earth mainly in the Jurassic Period. Dinosaurs were on earth for around 160 million years, starting from the Triassic period around 230 million years ago and through the Jurassic period, until the Cretaceous period around 65 million years ago. This era is also called the Mesozoic era and is the era in which dinosaurs developed and ultimately became extinct.
We’ve got some fun dinosaur activities for your preschooler to learn more about the dinosaurs:
1.Monday: Types of Dinosaurs:
Learn about different types of dinosaurs.
Tyrannosaurus: Perhaps the most well known dinosaur of all.
Stegosaurus: Easily recognised due to the unique plate and bones found along its spine.
Triceratops: Featured 3 horns that helped protect it against attacks from other dinosaurs.
Apatosaurus: Also known as Brontosaurus, it was one of the largest dinosaurs to ever walk on earth.
Velociraptor: Did you know that name Velociraptor means ‘swift seizer’?
2. Tuesday Activity: What size were dinosaurs?
Overall, the dinosaurs tended to be significantly larger than much of the wildlife that is on Earth today. In fact, there were dinosaurs that actually reached more than 40 feet tall and higher!
There was a very large range in the size and type of dinosaurs. Some of them were very large but only ate plants, and some of them were smaller and could run very fast, and ate meat. Use some fun facts on the size of Dinos to engage your toddler.
3. Wednesday Activity: How and Why Did Dinosaur Become Extinct?
Watch this informative video on Why and How did the Dinosaurs became extinct.
4. Thursday DIY Art Activity: Dinosaur Fingerpaint Art:
A fun way to teach your kids about dinosaurs is by getting down and dirty: do a dino art project involving finger paints.

5. Friday Fizzy Dinosaur Eggs:
Grab a few ingredients from your kitchen to make these DIY dinosaur eggs. A fun yet simple activity to do with your little one!
Materials required:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup water
food coloring
baking sheet
parchment paper
Mix flour, salt, and coffee grounds together in a bowl. Add the water a little bit at a time, mixing it into the dry mixture. The kids can use their hands or a spoon for this part. The mixture should be thick and a little sticky, so it can be molded into the eggs. Shape the dough into dinosaur eggs. Place on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes at 225 degrees until the eggs harden.

We are excited to launch our Junior Explorers Camp for kids aged 5-9 yrs. Join us in the ‘Daring Dinosaurs’ session where kids will learn how dinosaurs became extinct through a fun craft activity. Register here www.proeves.com/register
