It’s that time of the year again! Halloween is celebrated on 31st October year across many countries. There are many traditions associated with the event. It’s the time of the year dedicated to remembering the dead, the saints, martyrs and all the faithful departed. Celebrations or Halloween parties are organized across various western countries with much of fun and excitement.
The candies, the costumes and the games are so much fun on Halloween. So let’s have a look at some of the fun activities for your Halloween weekend –
Pumpkin Bowling
So get all the used tins lying in your house and cover them up with coloured paper and other decorative stuff. Each tin would be filled with some candies or some other surprise for the kids. Then one by one, get them to bowl a pumpkin and whichever tin gets knocked off, the person who has bowled gets the treat that is inside the tin
Halloween Treasure Hunt
Create your treasure hunt this weekend on the Halloween theme. Write different clues and hide them in different parts of your house. Each clue to help the person find out the next location. Use the spookiest places in the house to hide the clues. You could also have a dress theme for all participating in this treasure hunt on the Halloween theme.
Halloween Origami
Have fun at Halloween by making variousHalloween origami models. So here we will show how to make a Origami Mummy – These origami mummy heads are very easy to fold, and look spectacular (or should we say spooktacular!) As each one comes out slightly different, they are quite addictive to fold, too.
We decorated ours with stick-on googly eyes and with a black felt-tip pen. We also tried sticking them on lollipop (popsicle) sticks to use as puppets, and to decorate our Halloween table.
Monster Freeze Dance – Gather the monster dancers to the dance area. Explain to the monsters that everyone is to dance while the music is playing but as soon as it stops everyone has to freeze. Anyone who moves while the music is off is out of the game. Start playing the CDs and stop at random times. The last monster still dancing is the winner.
Hot Pumpkin Halloween Game – ThisHalloween party game is a take on the popular Hot Potato game in which players pass a small object such as a ball or a bean bag around until the music stops. This game is meant to be a fast paced, high pressure game, but I adjust that based on the ages of the kids playing the game. We also don’t toss, but rather nicely hand the item to the next person.
- Instruct the kids to form a circle facing each other.
- Hand the pumpkin to one student and instruct them to pass it (nicely) to the classmate next to them when the music starts. Students continue to pass the pumpkin to the classmate standing next to them until the music stops.
- The player left holding the pumpkin when the music stops is eliminated.
- The music starts again and plays continue until only one person is left standing.
