Teaching preschoolers where in the world they live

This activity is a step towards making preschoolers/toddlers understand where they are in the world. It helps them to hold in their hands all of the places they can call ‘home’ or they have visited.

Materials required*:

  • Four different colour of chart.
  • Kids photo
  • Pictures of Universe, Earth, Asia continent picture, India, State outline picture (depends on the state which you belong), City (depends on the state which you belong), Area (depends on the state which you belong), Street (name of your street), Home (name of your home or address). *you can get pictures from google
  • Key chain holder ring.

Execute:

Cut the chart in circular shape with 2cms difference of each. You may need 10 to 12 circular charts.Then paste the pictures you collected, in the order as follows

  • Universe
  • Earth (my planet)
  • Asia (my continent)
  • India (my country)
  • State (my state)
  • City (my city)
  • Area (area in your city where you live)
  • Street (name of your street)
  • Home (your home address or the society name)

After pasting all the pictures, paste your kids photo in the top and titled as “WHERE I AM?” you may decorate according to your wish.

How to play:

Step1: let them see the pictures and try to learn through the pictures.

Step2: Help the kids to identify the picture names.

Step3: Ask kids to tell the names in order.
