Christmas celebrations dominate the environment; be it homes, schools or the community at large. Read ahead to find how you can engage all the senses of your child during occasion.
The birth of Christ is considered as the greatest miracle the world has ever seen. So grab the moment and share with your children
the story of The King of Kings. Don’t miss the opportunity of telling them how much God loves them to send his son to always be by her side. God’s coming on earth as a baby can excite every child on earth irrespective of the religion or place where she is born.
- Begin a tradition of celebration in your home and bring in a lovely Christmas tree and decorate it for the hungry eyes of your child. You could keep your baby’s picture instead of the star on top of the tree, since she is the star of your home.
- With attractive lights on the tree, tell her that Jesus will always light up her life in the same way.
- Read stories of the miracles that Jesus performed; children love stories and stories are the best method of teaching.
- Sing hymns to her; music touches hearts the most.
- Speak the words of the Lord to your child this season and continue doing so for ever. “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by, and when you lied down, and when you rise”.
- Take your child to a Christmas play and show her the birth of the baby Jesus in a stable, the visit of the shepherds and the three wise men who traveled from faraway lands to get a glimpse of the Lord. Children remember what they see.
- And in all this, don’t forget to explain Santa to your baby. Inform her that he is not a sneaking ‘gift uncle’ but someone called Nicholas who loved to help the poor. So with his example, teach your child philanthropy. Make your child give the people who work for you, small gifts as tokens of appreciation.
So cheers to this amazing festival of love and let its celebration fill your child’s heart with the joy of giving.
